Hilary Friedman

Dr. Hilary Levey Friedman is a Harvard sociologist and author of Playing To Win: Raising Children In A Competitive Culture, about elementary school-age children's participation in competitive afterschool activities. She is a parenting expert who studies childhood, beauty pageants, afterschool activities, and popular culture. She holds degrees from Harvard University, University of Cambridge, and Princeton University and she her award-winning writing has appeared in numerous academic journals and in media outlets like The Atlantic, New Yorker, Slate, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and many more. Dr. Friedman frequently appears on television and radio offering expert commentary as well.
