Isn’t it amazing what a little warmth and sun can do for your mood?
Where I live, we’ve just come through one of the bitterest winters on record. Spring didn’t give great respite: it was cool with constant bouts of rain. I recall one afternoon when the clouds parted, the sun peeked through and gave those of us on the street one grand tease – we actually cheered its presence before it disappeared again not to be seen again until mid-May.
It’s been said that the outdoors – nature – is a great balm for the soul. And I agree. The last little while where a number of days have been sunny, have finally given the trees permission to bloom and our eyes the delight and rest they need to take in the soothing green foliage that’s emerged. I must admit this is a bit of a double-edged sword as the allergy sufferer in me manifests as well. However, I’ll take the itchy eyes over blinding snow any day.
Everything from music to clothes to food to conversation changes once the summer season is upon us.
Who could possibly listen to “Good Vibrations” in January? And pastels, painted toe nails, popsicles, picnics – just thinking of this makes me happy.
Yeah…make a list for yourself: Take any letter of the alphabet and go for it. Beaches, bathing, bikinis, bikes, BBQs… Sandals, shorts, sand, surf, sun… Make that list and feel yourself smile as you unwind with the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer heading our way.
