Norma Yaeger
Norma Yaeger, a wife, mother, and grandmother, spent more than 50 years breaking down the walls for women in the workplace. In 1962, she was the first woman stockbroker to be registered with the New York Stock Exchange and the first to walk on the floor of the Exchange. Prior to this, women were not permitted to do this. She demanded equal pay for equal work and got it; even before equal pay was a catch phrase. She became the only woman on Management Advisory Board of Hornblower & Weeks, a major brokerage firm on Wall Street.
Norma’s success led her to Bears Stearns & Co. and Drexel Burnham Lambert, Inc. Norma went on to start a Mutual Fund and then she opened her own brokerage firm. Norma lectured throughout the United States to give advice to women starting on careers and investing. And she did all this while raising five children.
Norma sold her firm in 1998 and retired with her husband Larry, and traveled the world. Now at the age of 83, Norma has written her first book, Breaking Down the Walls. Available for pre-sales at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
