His upcoming film THE CAPE ISLAND AFFAIR (ATO Pictures), is a magical romance based on a short story by acclaimed British novelist, Joanne Harris (Chocolat). Residing in Manhattan’s culture rich Hell’s Kitchen, Michael has carved out an amazing 35 year career in the Entertainment industry, as a star of Stage, Film and Television.
During his long acting career he’s starred as Lance Corporal Dawson in the original Broadway production of A Few Good Men, as the ancient Marius in the vampire romance, Lestat, and in acclaimed films such as One Fine Day, She Hate Me and 25th Hour. He’s made numerous Guest Star appearances on such TV shows as Law & Order, Ugly Betty, Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, New York Undercover and Deadline. He also co-starred for six years as Lamar Griffin on CBS-TV’s As The World Turns. Throughout his career Michael has worked with some of the greatest talents in the industry; from Elton John and Anne Rice, to Viola Davis and Academy Award winners Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx, Eilleen Heckart (Butterflies Are Free) and John Patrick Shanley (Moonstruck).
Michael is also an acclaimed radio broadcaster, having honed his craft by spending several years as the velvet voice Host of the AM Quiet Storm on Washington’s WOL-1450 AM, which was the cornerstone purchase of his family’s broadcast ventures, now known as the Radio One and TV One Networks. He’s a prestigious Eugene O’Neill Playwright’s selectee, the winner of the coveted Kennedy Center Award for New American Plays, a prestigious Sundance Screenwriter’s Selectee for his critically acclaimed jazz fable, Pork Pie, and the winner of the 2008 NAACP Image Award For Outstanding Writing In A Motion Picture for his work on the classic dramatic comedy, Talk To Me.
